I decided to throw up a quick sneak peek from yesterdays wedding of Ben and Irene. As the Mid North Coast can produce, the day was stunning – overshadowed by this amazing couple.

I was recently in Canberra photographing the Look Book for designer Danni Hewitt of Little Sparrow. As always she has an amazing collection of work. Head over to http://www.iamlittlesparrow.com/ to view more of her work.

A few weeks ago I had the privilege of working with the amazing Dj Dexi. I have to admit I know very little about dance music but I have great respect for anyone who can write music. For a description of Dexi’s music, I will leave it to her.

The Sound of Dexi:
Dexi’s set on the night is one you wait for. Her sound is one like any no other, with a universal ability to play every genre of electronic music. Dexi is known for her BIG DIRTY bass lines, fresh track selections, dirty in ya face samples, combined with some fun lyrics and hands in the air melodies that will have you boppin’ up and down.

So I will give you some of the specifications of this shoot. I wanted to create something moody with rich colour. The previous week we had scouted out the locations and thanks to some of Dexi’s contacts we found this amazing location in the heart of Newcastle. The building had an amazing old brick wall with some old cool paintings and photographs. There was a series of old chairs and various other props around the room available for the shot. The following is the lighting setup.

In reverse order. 5. Canon 5d Mark 2 with Canon 50mm f1.2 shot at f3.2, 1/160th second at 320 iso. 4. Flag protecting camera from light 3. 3. 400 watt mono block with beauty dish aimed forward to stop spill onto the back wall. 2. Canon 580 EXii in lamp with red gel. 1. 400 Watt mono block with red gel placed about 3 meters high aimed in a downward angle and across the wall to give the wall a red wash.

For this shot the lighting was very simple. The building has beautiful windows about 2 metres tall directly to the left (camera left) of Dexi. The background was beautiful hanging string curtain j,ust behind the window.

There was an amazing white piano in the location, and we just had to use this for a image. For this shot, Dexi is sitting directly in front of a window, thus the white background! This image was lit with a 400 watt mono black, with a 22 inch beauty dish placed high, and in front of Dexi.
